Elyssia Ward is an artist working in ceramics, painting, jewellery making and illustration from Glasgow, Scotland

She is mostly known for her ceramic charms which are meticulously hand-painted with whimsical motifs using underglaze, resulting in small wearable artworks made to cherish for a lifetime and gift to loved ones. She is inspired by symbolism, the natural world, mysticism as well as everyday life and objects

Each batch of ceramic artwork is completely handmade at her home studio and undergoes many processes from hand-building, hand-painting and multiple kiln firings. Materials used are usually white stoneware, underglaze, transparent glaze and 24K gold lustre

Elyssia graduated in 2021 with a first class honours degree from Heriot-Watt School of Textiles and Design specialising in printed textiles. These studies developed a love of surface pattern design and illustration, complimenting a lifelong interest in drawing and painting. While completing her degree in textiles, Elyssia started exploring the ceramic medium which allowed her skills and interests to evolve into the whimsical world of ceramics and charms found today
